Battery Park City North/West Resiliency Project

Resiliency project addressing sea level rise and storm damage advances in Lower Manhattan

Client:

Battery Park City Authority

Location:

New York, NY

The Battery Park City North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project is a landmark coastal flood-risk management initiative that will help protect a 92-acre Lower Manhattan neighborhood from sea level rise, storm surge, and more frequent extreme weather events. Delivered through New York City’s first progressive design-build model, the project will create approximately 8,000 linear feet of integrated flood and seepage barriers, interior drainage improvements, and reimagined public open space along the Hudson River waterfront.

ELECSYS is supporting the progressive design-build team with electrical and systems engineering services that help make sure the new infrastructure is reliable, maintainable, and seamlessly integrated into the surrounding urban fabric. Our work contributes to resilient power distribution, critical systems coordination, and constructible solutions that respond to complex site constraints, active waterfront uses, and long-term operations needs.

For the Battery Park City Authority and its partners, the project is about more than floodwalls—it is an opportunity to upgrade parks, promenades, and community spaces while delivering a protection system that is designed to remove Battery Park City from the FEMA flood zone once complete, reducing risk for residents and businesses across Lower Manhattan.
