ELECSYS is providing electrical inspection services for the North River Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility cogeneration and electrification project in West Harlem. The program replaces aging engine-driven equipment with modern cogeneration and electrification systems designed to improve reliability, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support the City’s long-term climate and resiliency goals.
As lead electrical inspector, ELECSYS helps NYC DEP, the construction manager, and contractors verify that new medium-voltage switchgear, generators, motor control centers, and associated controls are installed in accordance with contract documents, utility standards, and applicable codes. Our team reviews drawings and submittals, observes field installation and testing, documents deficiencies, and works with project partners to resolve issues quickly so that critical treatment operations can remain online throughout construction. The cogeneration and electrification upgrades at North River Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility are a cornerstone of New York City’s effort to modernize its water infrastructure and make more efficient use of biogas produced on site. By supporting careful quality oversight in the field, ELECSYS is helping the project team deliver a safer, more resilient facility that can serve the surrounding communities for decades to come.
